Woman Dies in a Forklift Accident at Walmart Distribution Center in Fort Worth, Texas

Fort Worth, Texas — A female worker died in a forklift accident at a Walmart distribution center on Friday morning. The incident happened at the distribution center on North Beach Street, near Alliance Airport.

According to reports, the worker was operating a forklift when she was pinned between the forklift and a large storage rack.

The worker was pronounced dead at the scene. Officials have not yet disclosed her identity.

Additional details have not been released.

Thoughts on fatal forklift accidents

According to the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), forklift accidents are unfortunately not uncommon, with around 85 deaths occurring each year and being crushed by a forklift accounting for 42% of these deaths.

This somber stat leaves us asking: was the forklift operator provided proper training and safety procedures for operating such vehicles? One of the potential causes of such accidents could be a lack of training or improper training of workers required to operate forklift trucks. Companies are responsible for providing their workers with the proper training and safety tools to conduct their jobs safely.

An investigation needs to be conducted to determine what went wrong and led to this tragic loss of life. If it is found that negligence played a role in this incident, the company should be held accountable.

Change happens when those responsible for failures are held accountable for their actions.
